10 April 2012 - The Trials UK OSET Cup is all set to deliver an outstanding 2012 e-class championship. The flagship, Yorkshire-based series will attract youngsters from across the UK and is aimed at riders of all abilities.

There are seven rounds, with the six best results counting towards the final championship standings. Each event will have a rider of the day, goody bags and participant medals.

Nige Pearson from Trials UK, said: "There will be something for everyone at our events, so no matter whether this is your first time on a bike or you're an accomplished rider for your age these events will suit you.

"Although the e-class is a beginner series aimed at four to six year olds, if you're brand new to electric bikes and trials, no matter what your age, you're more than welcome to come and have some fun and ride with us."

The Trials UK OSET Cup will be run at Horsforth DMC events. The first round takes place at Greenhow, 22nd April at 11am. Located 15 miles from Harrogate directions can be downloaded from the Horsforth DMC website.

The best e-class riders have signed up to take part in the championship. 6 year old Dominic Horne is in great form fresh off the back of convincing victories at Ripon and Richmond. Fearless welshman Lewis Hurdsman, is looking forward to competing hard along with talented newcomers Harry McLoughlin and Monte Andrew. Preston youngster Ryan Shepherd and Aiden Simpson from Leyburn are both totally capable of winning the championship. While five year old Myles Hutchinson and Charlie Crossland have both taken a quantum leap after moving up to the 16" OSET. All in all, the championship is in no way a forgone conclusion and is set to be fiercely fought, with no doubt a number of surprises throughout the season.

Nige Pearson added: "With such a range of abilities within the age group we will provide three routes at every round - easy, for the absolute beginners, an intermediate route and a hard route. In addition, all of the sections will be taped out to help keep the riders focused."

A season highlight will include a Trials UK, OSET weekender at Tong on the outskirts of Bradford in September. The weekend event will consist of two e-class trials, expert tuition, fun and games for the children and an opportunity for families to relax and reflect on the championship whilst camping. The 100 acre site will also host the C & D and also the Ladies British Championships during the same weekend.

Barry Huskinson from OSET, said: "We'll be competing at some fantastic venues and working with Trials UK, means OSET can help deliver an e-class championship that will be enjoyed by everyone. It's the perfect event to come along to if you're brand new to trials whilst providing a challenge for more experienced riders."

Remaining rounds all begin at 11am. Directions can be downloaded from Horsforth DMC Trial Club website and are:

17 June – Trials UK Oset Cup - HDMC - Stump Cross Caverns

It's starting to get busy now and here are details of a few upcoming events suitable for the OSET's.

This saturday 7th April is round 1 of Ripon's fantastic saturday series, starting at 3.30pm. The venue's Castiles Farm, Grantly. Sorry i don't have a post code or directions.

It also looks like the Stanley club in Conset, Co Durham have an event suitable for the smallest of riders on Good Friday 6th April at Butsfield Quarry, starting at 11am. Again I don't know where the venue is (Sorry never been).

Monday 9th April, Ted at Richmond is running a separate conducted route, specifically laid out for electric bikes. The venue is Swale Farm, flagged on the B6270 Richmond to Reeth road. 1pm start.

Saturday 14th April Y&G have the second round of their N&B series at Pratts, Silsden. I wont be at this one as Dom's riding the National in Devon.

22nd April see's the first round of the TrialsUK OSET Cup at Greenhow. A more detailed email will be coming your way very soon regarding this event, which will be run on similar line to the trophy trial at Brimham Rocks last year. With 6 taped sections, punch cards, lap board & awards and prizes for both routes D & E class. Also OSET are again kindly providing a Rider of the day trophy. If you know you,re coming, could you please drop me a text or email ASAP. Nige & I would like to know approximate numbers, to work out parking & numbers of officials we need.

If anyone (individual or company) could support the OSET Cup series by sponsoring trophies/prizes at an individual round, please let me know.

For all of you guys (the other side of the hill) 17MCC are putting on a conducted trial on May 7th. Go to www.manchester17.org.uk for deatails.

Finally. A few of us were privileged to attend the 1st round of the No Limits Trials Academy OSET CUP last sunday. This was a first class event, very professionally run by a fantastic team headed by Andy Hogg.

They're holding their second round and practice event over the May bank holiday weekend. I know there are a few of you already planning to make the journey down for that one and I can confirm 'the Hornes' will also be in attenence.

Take a look at the link below to get an idea of how great the last one was.

http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DQVNHfQzVE4g&h=3AQGJPrLL

If anyone else has any info on other events, please feel free to share them with the email group.

Remember to let us know ASAP if you're coming to RD 1 of the Trials UK OSET CUP.

19 March 2012 - The traditional breakfast in bed was no doubt cut short for the mums of the 18 e-class children at the Horsforth trial yesterday. But, in what looks set to be a fiercely fought OSET Cup, the competition could not have been closer for the young OSET riders and the mums, well, they couldn't have been prouder.

At Deer Park, Bingley six taped-out sections proved ideal for what was a beautiful day in the Yorkshire Dales. The hard and easy routes were set out on sun-drenched banking by Nige Pearson from Trials UK and Frazer Hutchinson. And with plenty of new faces this early in the season, it looks set to be a thrilling OSET Cup.

The easy route was eventually decided on a count-back between Myles Hutchinson and Morgan Shepherd. Both boys were clear ahead of the field with only two dabs each. Myles won by a whisker on most cleans. Owen Barnes came third and was the outright winner of biggest smile of the day! Jak Heaney meanwhile, was competing for the first time this weekend – he had a great ride in his 12.5" OSET.

Welsh dangerman, Lewis Hurdsman, lived up to his growing reputation with a fearless ride once again on the hard route. He and Trials UK rider, Dominic Horne competed hard from start to finish, with Dominic winning on 18 after initially falling behind following a disastrous section two. Harry McLaughlin stepped up to the hard route for the first time and came an impressive third.

The biggest congratulations of the day has to go to outstanding OSET rider, Henry Stephenson, who this year has made the step up to D-Class on a 20" OSET machine. He had an impeccable clean ride to take the unmistakable win. Clearly it's in his genes – a little bird told us that dad, Jamie bagged the top spot in the intermediate class at the Basic Memorial Centre Trial!

Handing out goody bags for all e-class riders, courtesy of Trials UK was Nige Pearson. He said; "If this is the benchmark for the season ahead it's looking like a great Trials UK/OSET Cup. Competition between all the riders is close, there are some cracking little riders this year! With an ethos of support and encouragement for these youngsters the biggest competition might end up being for the one with biggest smile!"

Horsforth DMC will host the first round of the Trials UK OSET Cup at Galloway Pastures, Greenhow, Yorkshire on 22 April at 11am. For more information on e-class events across the UK go to www.osetbikes.com/en/events

Trials UK were in attendance at the Y&G Mel Harrison Sidecar National, which also had a class for solos. Riding as a group of four Trials UK Nige, Simon Green, Clive and Richard Armistead set off on their first attempt at this highly regarded event.

The weather defied the forecast early on and ranged from damp to torrential at times. Which made road sections a bit hard on the face at speed... uurr i mean 30 miles an hour.. officer!

Luckily the clouds parted by the time we were at Brimham Rocks and the rest of the day was bathed in glorious sunlight.

A healthly entry of 20 sidecars and 50 solos tackled 36 sections over 4 seperate pieces of land spread over a 20 mile circuit arond the beautiful countryside surrounding Pateley Bridge.

The day started well with the signing on area being nicely situated in a nice cafe serving hearty breakfasts and a good brew. From there the first group of sections was the Lead mines at Greenhow which consisted of some extremely slippy stream sections and rocky outcrops. Then onto a new piece of land for 3 sections on the way to Brimham Rocks which had a group of 9 testing sections half way round the course. A change of punch cards and refuelling both bike and belly set us up for the ride over to Fell Beck to tackle the final group of sections of stream, hills and rocks high up on the windy hill side. Then it was back to Pateley Bridge to sign off.

This event must have taken an aweful lot of organising and the Y&G team of Janet & Mel Harrison along with their many helpers did a sterling job of putting on a superb trial that was taxing without being death defying, and above all a great ride round some of the best trials land bar none. A massive thank you must go to the observers, many of whom observed 2 totally seperate groups of sections in the cold and rain, and we all greatly appreciate all they did for us so we could have a day out on our bikes.

All things taken into consideration I and all my friends would describe this event as the best days trialling we have ever had and can not praise it highly enough.

All ready looking forward to next years event..!
